Does This Look Like You?
So let’s talk about PULLING…
If your dog is pulling you down the path or street like THIS, it’s not only annoying and potentially dangerous, but did you know it can have serious implications for your dog’s obedience to you overall? That’s because THEY are leading YOU, instead of the other way around!
Here’s video of me with the dog we just saw, showing you how to clarify and enforce the “Don’t walk ahead of me without permission” rule, by just using your own leash in a new way. TRY IT!
Why is this happening?
It helps to understand why dogs pull in the first place
It helps to understand why dogs pull in the first place. If they pull on the leash, it means they are intentionally walking faster and ahead of you. In Nature, when he needs to clarify his role in the pack, the Lead Dog leads and insists that his followers follow. When he’s clarifying his top status, the Lead Dog does not allow other dogs to pass or walk ahead of him. HE is the boundary. HE is the one respected. When your dog is allowed to walk ahead of you with no boundaries, they do not see you as their Lead Dog. And in their world, dogs do whatever they want (like pulling ahead of you), unless or until something or someone STOPS them. The Lead Dog doesn’t use commands or teach alternative behaviors. He just STOPS the behaviors he doesn’t approve of, without any anger or emotion, and the other dogs automatically learn to make more acceptable behavior choices – instantly! Learn how to STOP PULLING and earn your dog’s respect, as Camilla demonstrates several simple and effective techniques.
